Wherever Elvis was, he always tried to come home for Christmas. Starting in November until just after his birthday (January 8th), Graceland would be all decked out for the Holiday season.
Blue lights lined the driveway, a life size nativity set was set up, the drapes in every window were changed to red velvet and the house was flowing head to toe in Christmas cheer. The sound of Christmas carols filled the air as family and friends gathered around the piano to join in with Elvis.
Known for his generosity, Elvis would donate to numerous hometown charities, never forgetting his humble beginnings.
In 1957, just five days before his first Christmas at Graceland, Elvis received his draft notice. You can read more about his Army service here .
The photo below shows him reading his draft papers.
Through the years Elvis sent out many custom Christmas card greetings.
In closing, we would like to pass along a special Christmas greeting from all of us at Old Soul Retro.
